honus wagner - batting second

Short Stop

Honus Wagner ImageThere are only a few people today that can say they saw Honus Wagner play the Game. I am unfortunately not one of them. When it comes to the best in Short Stops many names will come to mind. It doesn't take one long when examining the achievements of Honus Wagner to see why he is arguably the best Short Stop to ever play the game. One of the first  five players to be inducted in the Hall of Fame in 1936, Honus was immortalized with the likes of Babe Ruth and Ty Cobb.

Among some of the amazing facts about Honus is that 3 times Wagner stole second, third, and home in one inning! As for Honus' defensive talents, longtime Manager John McCraw said, "The only way to get a ball past Honus is to hit it eight feet over his head." Playing Short Stop, which is basically a defensive position, Honus put up unbelievable offensive numbers.

I have Brooks Robinson playing to Honus' right making the left side of my infield as solid as it gets.

Check out Honus Wagner's stats and see why he was an easy choice for my Short Stop. Honus is batting 2nd in my lineup.

By the way if anyone has a Honus Wagner Baseball card that they want to give away, I would be glad to take it off your hands.
